Testimonials, decoded

Five students. One sentence skeleton.

Quotes below are copied verbatim from the NSHM homepage (captured October 2026). The commentary is analysis of the text as written — we make no claim about the individuals named. Real, unedited student testimony has texture: specific courses, specific professors, specific bad days. Watch what's missing.

“The Department of Computing and Analytics at NSHM Durgapur provides excellent technical education with a strong focus on data science, programming, and emerging technologies.”

Ayushmaan Ghosh

Department-level praise, not personal experience. No course name, no project, no semester, no outcome. Compare with how a real recommendation sounds: it names a specific thing that happened to a specific person.

“Studying Computing and Analytics at NSHM Durgapur has been a highly rewarding experience. The industry-oriented curriculum, hands-on projects, and modern labs prepare students for real-world challenges in technology and analytics.”

Monali Ghosh

Same department, same length, same three-item list structure (“curriculum, projects, labs”). Different student, near-identical sentence skeleton.

“NSHM Durgapur offers outstanding education in computing and analytics. The exposure to live projects, coding practices, and analytical tools has enhanced my technical and problem-solving skills.”

Pooja Mondal

Third student, third permutation of the same three-item list. The phrasing reads as a template with slots swapped, not as an account from a life.

“The learning environment in the Computing and Analytics department at NSHM Durgapur is innovative and supportive. Continuous mentoring and practical training have helped me become industry-ready.”

“Industry-ready” is the sales keyword of the entire page — repeated across testimonials until it loses meaning. Ask: ready for WHICH industry, at WHICH entry salary?

“The Department of Computing and Analytics at NSHM Durgapur focuses on skill development in areas like data analytics, artificial intelligence, and software development.”

Fifth clone. Note what's absent from all five: any criticism, any tradeoff, any named batchmate or professor. Unedited human testimony almost always contains texture. These contain none.

“Securing a placement through NSHM was a milestone moment in my academic journey”

Simran Prasad (placed at TCS)

Reading between the lines

A placement testimonial with no role, no package band, no selection process detail. The one fact a prospective student needs — what the job actually is — is exactly the fact withheld.

The test you can run yourself

  1. 01. Open nshm.com ↗ and scroll to the testimonials section.
  2. 02. Count how many quotes mention a specific course, project, year, professor, or salary band.
  3. 03. Count how many use the same keywords: “industry-ready”, “hands-on”, “exposure”, “mentorship”.
  4. 04. Ask: does any single quote contain a criticism, however small? Human memory includes friction. Marketing copy does not.

If every testimonial on a page reads like it came from the same typewriter, the page is not evidence — it's decoration.
