nshm.com sells a future. This site reads the same page from the other side: what the brochure claims, what the brochure omits, and the questions it never answers. Every claim here is either observable on their own site or marked as an unsourced slot until we have proof.

↓ Every counter below is theirs. The questions below them are ours.

  • ? What is the median package?
  • ? What is the placement rate?
  • ? How many students per batch?
  • ? Who wrote these testimonials?
  • ? What is the all-in four-year cost?
  • ? How many permanent faculty?
  • ? How many students went unplaced?
  • ? What does E-LEAD actually certify?

Their headline numbers

Same page. Different reading.

These are real figures from the NSHM homepage, captured October 2026. What follows each one is the context the homepage does not include.

60+

LPA “Highest Package”

What it leaves out

A maximum is not a median. The number that matters — median package — is not on the page.

35K+

“Strong Alumni Network”

What it leaves out

Size of a network says nothing about its outcomes. Where are the outcomes of the last graduating batch?

29+

“Years of Academic Excellence”

What it leaves out

Excellence is not a unit of measurement. No methodology, no third-party benchmark attached.

500+

“Industry Associates”

What it leaves out

Undefined category. Associates ≠ recruiters. How many hired from the last batch, in which roles?

Claims vs Reality

Three you can check right now.

Placements · they say

“60+ LPA — Highest Package”

What the page doesn't say

“Highest package” is a maximum of one outlier offer. A maximum tells you nothing about the distribution. Their homepage placement section names individual students and recruiters, but publishes no median package, no placement percentage, and no batch size — the three numbers that determine what an average student actually gets.

Ask instead: What is the MEDIAN package and the placement rate for the 2025–26 batch of my specific programme?

Testimonials · they say

““The Department of Computing and Analytics at NSHM Durgapur provides excellent technical education with a strong focus on…””
verify on nshm.com ↗

What the page doesn't say

Five different students' testimonials on the same homepage all follow one template: same department, same two-sentence length, same vocabulary (“excellent technical education”, “industry-oriented curriculum”, “hands-on projects”, “industry-ready”). Genuine experiences vary in length, tone and detail. Cloned phrasing suggests testimonials were drafted centrally, not collected from students.

Ask instead: Who writes these testimonials, and will the institute publish unedited student reviews with full names and graduating years?

Placements · they say

““Every student tells a story of success””
verify on nshm.com ↗

What the page doesn't say

Success stories are, by construction, selection bias: they show the best outcomes, not the typical one. A placement page that shows only winners is a brochure, not evidence. What's missing is the count of students who were NOT placed, and the count of students placed below a living-wage threshold.

Ask instead: How many students from my batch were unplaced, and what did the bottom quartile earn?

Our method

We label our own evidence. Every time.

A site accusing a college of spinning facts cannot afford to spin its own. Every card on this site carries one of three labels:

01 — Observable

You can open their site and see it yourself. Quotes are verbatim; every card links to the page.

02 — Verifiable

Backed by public records — fee PDFs, accreditation filings, press. We link; you confirm.

03 — Evidence slot

Placeholders. We publish what we can prove and mark the rest as unsourced until proof arrives. No proof, no claim.

Testimonials, decoded

Five students. One sentence skeleton.

Their homepage praises the same department five times in near-identical words. We don't claim the students didn't say them — we point out what the words do and don't tell you.

“The Department of Computing and Analytics at NSHM Durgapur provides excellent technical education with a strong focus on data science, programming, and emerging technologies.”
Ayushmaan Ghosh

Department-level praise, not personal experience. No course name, no project, no semester, no outcome. Compare with how a real recommendation sounds: it names a specific thing that happened to a specific person.

“Studying Computing and Analytics at NSHM Durgapur has been a highly rewarding experience. The industry-oriented curriculum, hands-on projects, and modern labs prepare students for real-world challenges in technology and analytics.”
Monali Ghosh

Same department, same length, same three-item list structure (“curriculum, projects, labs”). Different student, near-identical sentence skeleton.

Their button says “Apply Now”.
Ours says: read first.

A degree is a four-year, six-figure decision made at seventeen. The brochure is marketing; marketing is not obliged to be complete. You are obliged to ask.
